Amish Hands

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a showroom?

We do not have a brick-and-mortar showroom but we have an office in our home and have samples to help you understand the Amish craftsmanship. I promise, you will be happy with our meeting and our price. The less overhead we have the better your price is.

Can I just show up at the address on the website?

No. Appointment only, please.

How do your prices compare to custom orders from the big box store?

We normally beat them in price and always in quality.

What is the lead time for orders?

Please allow 3-6 months from deposit until delivery. The further out you plan your kitchen the better chance you will get your cabinets when you need them. The moment you decide to do a kitchen renovation or new build is the time to contact us.

Are you able to give me a 2D and 3D rendering?

Absolutely!

If I have a layout with dimensions, can I send it to you for a quote?

Absolutely. I will also need height of ceiling, type of wood or painted cabinets.

Do you do more than kitchens?

Yes, we can do vanities, dressers, beds, interior doors and sliding barn doors and anything made of wood. Please ask and I will find out if we can build your project.

Do you do installation? Delivery?

No, we do not do installation as we are a cabinet provider. You will need to hire a contractor to install. If you are local, we have two contractors we can recommend that you can interview. We are happy to work with your installer to make sure all goes smoothly.

We will deliver locally. Please ask. Your cabinets are ready for installation when delivered- No assembly required.

We can also ship and pick up is an option as well.

THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS #1

REAL WOOD vs RTA

All of our products are made from 100% certified kiln dried solid wood and we do not use MDF, particle board or any veneers. Carcasses (the part of the cabinet you don’t see) are made from cabinet grade plywood, made in America or Canada and free from toxins.

You are ordering a custom-made kitchen, made by the Amish and many features come standard where they are up-charges by others. With Amish Hands:

Even though your cabinets are made from kiln dried wood, which removes moisture, your cabinets will still experience some swelling and with the Amish craftsmanship, they create spaces or grooves on the inside of your cabinets that allow for this fluctuation. Without these grooves, you could have problems.

When you see the pictures of some of our work, there is no comparison that a natural wood cabinet will look much more beautiful than a cabinet with a glued veneer…. not even close.

DO NOT BUY INTO THE SCARE TACTICS BY OTHERS TELLING YOU SOLID WOOD IS GOING TO TWIST AND CRACK AND YOUR CABINETS WILL BE NO GOOD…. In the unlikely event you experience any twisting, we will replace without question.

RTA- Ready To Assemble

There are many RTA companies and I expect there are some good ones but I cannot tell you which ones they are. Things to look for:

  • RTA products are normally shipped in flat boxes and then need to be assembled.
  • Made overseas – Toxins and cheaply made.
  • Made on a conveyor belt with cheap material with little to no quality control
  • Made in America vs Assembled in America
  • Limited Lifetime warranty means 10 years in some cases.
  • You might find the veneer peeling
  • Constructed using cheap hardware which leaves you chasing parts.
  • Some Will blame installers and leave the customer in the middle.

In short, please do your homework.
